Design Showcase Recap
Thank you to everyone who came to our end of semester Design Showcase!
Design Interactive is a student-led organization at UW-Madison focused on human-centered design, and these hands-on cohort projects are a key way DI executes this mission. Partnering with a real world client and collaborating with peers to tackle design problems is the core idea of these projects. We heard presentations from both Debrief and Reliable Residence, as they discussed their design process and showcased their final designs. After these presentations, we celebrated our executive board seniors: McKenzie Kujava, Nadia Choi, Smeera Zaveri, and Ava Shumway, for all of the work they have contributed during their time with the organization.

Reflection
Since this is the last newsletter of the semester, I wanted to discuss briefly about my experience this semester on exec as VP of Communications and a member of the cohort project Reliable Residence.
If anyone is on the edge of wanting to apply for exec, my biggest piece of advice is that you should. Last semester, I definitely was not planning on applying, but I am so grateful that I was encouraged to do so. Coming onto exec board, it truly has felt like I now have a new support system to rely on, and have made new forever friends. As someone who doesn’t really know what they are doing professionally, or what they want to do in the future, this opportunity was a great was to build experience in a field that I am interested in. This includes other exec board members being able to provide feedback and constructive criticism to help me grow in not only the role I was assigned but as a person as well. This opportunity has also allowed me to network with industry professionals, and has provided a drive and fearlessness to chase opportunities within these design-related fields. Also, being part of Reliable Residence has really shown me how to execute the design process while collaborating with a great group of people, and has increased my confidence in creating personal projects relating to this area. Being able to listen in on partner/professional meetings and discussing design choices with group members has been invaluable. Big thank you to everyone who has made it a successful semester, and a special shoutout to all the seniors that are graduating (especially our president Kenzie)! DI has felt your presence on this organization and wishes well on your future endeavors, but also really wishes that you will come back as a guest speaker one day…
Thank you DI for a great semester! I love Design Interactive!
